Community Service
An ARS education includes teaching our students that each of them can help people in need by giving of their time to do acts of kindness which truly do make a difference! We feel it is necessary that our students have awareness of this and participate in service projects which will start them on a lifelong dedication to giving back at as young as 4 years old. ARS is very aware that in addition to those needing our help around the world due to natural disasters or food scarcity, etc., there are many who are in need right here in NYC in our community. As such our students and families participate in many community service projects throughout the year; here are examples of just a few:
- Toiletry Collection: we collect toiletries to be distributed to the homeless in NYC
-
Non-perishable Food Collection: Collected by our students to be donated to a food pantry for distribution
- Carnival for Jacaranda: An annual carnival to raise money for the Jacaranda School for Orphans in Malawi, Africa
Alexander Robertson School has a longstanding relationship with the Jacaranda School for Orphans and we help support it each year through the carnival as well as our year-long collection of books, clothing, and toiletries to be sent to Malawi at the end of each school year.
