Applying to ARS

We have tried our best to make applying to the Alexander Robertson School as stream-lined and easy as possible.

Here are the steps in our application process:

1. Learn about Alexander Robertson School:

Students must be 3 years and 9 months old when they enter our Junior- kindergarten classroom.

2. Apply online:

Create a parent portal account and then fill out the application online. Once you have completed the application, submit it along with the application fee.

3. Schedule a visit for your family:

Once you submit your application, you will be sent an email letting you know we received it and offering you a date to visit the school. At your visit, adults will be given a tour of the school and will also be able to meet with Brinton Parson, Head of School. Your child will meet with a member of our admission team for an informal assessment.

4. Have your child’s school submit the ISAAGNY school report to us:

As part of the online application you will be asked to sign a release form so that your child’s current school or preschool can release a school report directly to ARS. You will need to follow up with the school to make sure they have sent the ISAAGNY school report to Alyssa Shapiro, Director of Admissions, at ashapiro@alexanderrobertson.org by the application deadline.

5. If requesting financial aid:

If applying for financial aid, fill out the SSS form through this link. Our school code is 907074. This form MUST be completed by the application deadline.

6. Receive notification of admissions decision:

You will be notified of your application status according to the ISAAGNY dates, which vary depending on the age of your child or what grade he/she is applying for. Please click here for the list of ISAAGNY notification dates.

Early Notification Option

We value our current families and their engagement with our community. As such we offer an opportunity for siblings and legacy families applying to ARS to receive early notification of their admissions decision.

Families will be notified (by email) of their admissions decision not before Friday, December 6, 2024
Parent replies are due by noon on Friday, December 13, 2024

We know that life doesn't always happen on schedule.

If your family may be applying outside the traditional Admissions season dates, including for the 2024-25 school year, due to relocation or other life changes, we are happy to work with you. ARS follows the Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) guidelines and timetable. Applications submitted by early January will receive a decision letter in early February. Thereafter ARS will accept applications to grades that have an opening.
